Why purchasing email lists is not a good idea?

Do you think you have something people would buy? Regardless of the reason, buying an email list seems an easy way to obtain contacts that you could share your campaigns with. But is it really that simple and straightforward?
Remember, there are some serious consequences for using purchased email lists and if you have one, sooner or later you are going to pay the price.
Understand why you should NEVER buy email lists, if you do not want to be a spammer email:
- they are useless: most of the email marketing sellers will not let you use purchased lists.
- inconsistency: most of the emails from the purchased list are invalid as they were obtained through tracking techniques.
- no opt-in: no email address opted to receive your campaigns, so if you use this list you will be considered a spammer.
- low relevance: upon sending a content to random contacts, they will not find your email relevant and they will not bother to read it.
- no interactions: Contacts on a purchased or rented list don't actually know you and they did not agree to receive emails from you.
- low quality: most of the contact lists for sale contain unactive email addresses.
- harmed reputation: What if someone find out that you are using purchased email lists? Exactly! Your reputation will be harmed and you will be considered a spammer. Can you really afford it?
So how can you build a healthy and effective email list and prevent your address from being inserted into an email balck list?
There’s a few things you can do to build your email list without buying it from anyone else. Simply, use your website and its traffic! This way you email black list
To get traffic, make sure that your website's content is interesting to your readers. Try to interact with them and provide only valued information to your visitors. In addition, you can offer special deals exclusively in your email newsletters. Simply, ask your visitors to subscribe each time they visit your website and/or purchase a product/service.
Do not forget to use sign up forms on your website, so your visitors can sign up and provide you with their data.
Create a Facebook, Twitter, and other accounts, so you can stay active on Social Networks and post valuable information on them.
You will probably need some time to build a “healthy” email list but it is certainly worth it. By doing so, you will be adopting good email marketing practices. In summary, purchasing emails will lead you nowhere. By doing so, you weaken your brand awarness and waste your time on sending spams.
